We explore a liberating practice that can inspire us to embrace uncertainty and experimentation beyond the notebook.
Regenerative Impact features weekly explorations about what it means to be an entrepreneur or leader who cares to make an impact and wants to do it while feeling good and not burning out in the process.
What I love about freewriting is that it combines two concepts I love: writing with freedom at its core.
Sometimes, I write just for the sake of the feeling and sound I get from a ballpoint or fountain pen moving on the paper.
I don’t mind the words, I don’t mind the concepts, I don’t mind the mistakes. I focus on feelings, perceptions, and the next word.
More often than not, I don’t know what the next word is going to be. And it’s cool to find out when it takes shape in my mind and then on paper.
Word after word after word, a page is filled, a concept shows up, and things start to make sense.
It takes time — a little or a lot, it depends on the days — but it’s worth the wait and a try.
This process reminds me of Barry Stevens’s book title: Don’t Push The River: It Flows By Itself.
What if we stopped pushing the river?
What if we started to freewrite other areas of our lives?
What if we tried to replace impatience with a will to try and wait to see what happens?
What if we gave ourselves the luxury to wander and wonder?
What if we got comfortable staying with the problem or the process instead of obsessing over the solution or the end goal?
Imagine creating a business, a book, an art project, or a newsletter, giving yourself the chance to not know, experiment, and play.
How would that feel?
Immensely expansive and liberatory, I guess.
So, what do you need to tell yourself to invite this freedom into your life?
With care,
Giada

🗞️ News & Updates
As of the time of this writing (June 10, 2024, 12:25 PM CET), the fundraiser I cross-posted last week has exceeded $18,100 in donations. I’m grateful, amazed, and newly grounded in hope. Seeing our interconnectedness in action is always regenerative and mind-blowing.

Stuff I kept thinking about or still open in my browser
I’ve been pondering the question “How can I make it softer?”. I’m creating a new coaching program and don’t want it to feel too “crowded” or too full of things to do. I want it to be softer and space-holding while being flexibly structured to give my clients a clear sense of progression and a space where insights and breakthroughs can happen freely.
I crave a new novel to read but can’t seem to find one that intrigues me. I love to be “called” by books when I see them, but I’m probably focusing too much on the research, preventing me from seeing them!

Hello! I’m Giada (Jah-da, more or less), an Impact Coach who blends coaching and neuroscience to empower change agents to turn their impactful vision into action and contribute to collective well-being while feeling good and not burning out in the process. Sounds interesting? Let’s have a chat!
The best advice I was given about writing was an explanation of free writing. I used it all the time now, it takes me to places I wouldn't have gone to without it.
I'm going to chew on this one: "What if we started to freewrite other areas of our lives?"
